Saquon Barkley Dazzles Eagles with Three Touchdowns in Debut

**SAO PAULO** – Running back Saquon Barkley dazzled in his Philadelphia Eagles debut, scoring three touchdowns to lead his team to a 34-29 victory over the Green Bay Packers on Friday.

In Brazil, where soccer terminology reigns supreme, a local media member referred to Barkley’s performance as a "hat trick," a term commonly used in soccer. Barkley racked up 109 rushing yards and became only the second player in Eagles history to score three touchdowns in his first game, joining Terrell Owens, who achieved the feat in 2004.

"He had an incredible game tonight," said quarterback Jalen Hurts. "It’s exciting to watch him play, and I’m thrilled he’s on our side. What a debut for him."

Barkley put the Eagles on the board early in the second quarter with an 18-yard touchdown reception from Hurts. "I'm the first person to ever score in South America," Barkley remarked. "That’s pretty cool."

Offensive tackle Lane Johnson praised Barkley’s performance, saying, "From the first catch, he was just balling. Every time he scored, I was sprinting over to celebrate with him."

Barkley’s impact was exactly what the Eagles hoped for when they signed him to a three-year, $37.75 million contract in free agency. He had envisioned a performance like this while imagining playing behind the Eagles' offensive line and alongside stars like Hurts, A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Dallas Goedert.

"I think it’s special that despite all the talent on this team, my day to score touchdowns came today. There’s no jealousy, just support," Barkley said. "That’s what you need with a team full of stars. It’s going to stay like this throughout the season."
