**Israel's War on Gaza Live: At Least 40 Dead Amid Outrage Over School Attack**

Israel's military continued its assault on Gaza, killing 40 more Palestinians, as international outrage grew over an Israeli attack on a UN-run school that claimed at least 18 lives, including six aid workers. UN Secretary-General António Guterres renewed his call for an immediate ceasefire, condemning the "horrific violence" in Gaza, especially the attack on the al-Jaouni school, which served as a shelter for displaced Palestinians.

The World Health Organization reported that around 25% of Gaza’s wounded—more than 22,500 people—are suffering from life-altering injuries. The death toll in Gaza has now surpassed 41,000, with over 95,000 wounded. Meanwhile, Israel continues to reckon with the aftermath of Hamas-led attacks on October 7, which left at least 1,139 Israelis dead and more than 200 taken captive.

In a separate report, five people, including two children, were killed when an Israeli tank shelled a home in the al-Mawasi area of southern Gaza. UN agencies have expressed growing concern, with mounting casualties among UNRWA staff, and accusations of unlawful Israeli military actions escalating across the occupied West Bank.
