The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched attacks on targets in Lebanon to preempt strikes by Hezbollah, according to Israeli military sources.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Sunday morning that it has "proactively and extensively" initiated strikes on Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon to neutralize threats against Israel. This action followed the detection of Hezbollah's preparations to launch missiles and rockets toward Israeli territory.

"We are eliminating threats to the Israeli home front," said IDF Spokesperson Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari during a press briefing. "Dozens of [Israeli Air Force] jets are currently striking multiple targets across southern Lebanon. Our operations against the Hezbollah terrorist organization continue intensively as we work to remove these threats.""Hezbollah is launching rockets and UAVs toward Israeli territory," he added. "Our aerial defense systems, including the Israeli Navy’s ships and IAF planes, are actively engaged in defending Israel’s skies. They are identifying and intercepting threats while striking necessary targets in Lebanon to neutralize threats and weaken Hezbollah."

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who held a meeting with cabinet members Sunday morning, reiterated his call to end the displacement of tens of thousands of Israelis caused by ongoing hostilities.

"We are committed to doing everything necessary to protect our country, ensure the safe return of residents to the north, and uphold a fundamental principle: Anyone who harms us will face retaliation," Netanyahu stated.

IDF Spokesperson Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari reported that the military has already intercepted several rockets and UAVs aimed at Israeli territory.
