MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - Following a day of extreme heat with "feels like" temperatures exceeding 100 degrees, storms moved across Minnesota, with additional storms forecasted for early Tuesday morning. What happened?
**Storms Move Through Twin Cities, Heading into Wisconsin**
Severe storms swept through the Twin Cities, causing strong winds and damage as they moved into Wisconsin. The storms are expected to continue moving east.
Earlier in the afternoon, a severe thunderstorm watch was issued for areas west of the Twin Cities. Within this watch zone, a large supercell storm advanced through western Minnesota, bringing heavy rain and large hail to regions like Kandiyohi County.
Severe storm warnings were in effect for much of the Twin Cities, with expectations of significant damage from large hail and strong winds. Wind gusts ranged from 70 to 90 mph as the storms progressed. Reports included hail up to 2-3 inches in diameter and heavy rainfall, prompting tornado sirens due to winds exceeding 70 mph.
At the Minnesota State Fair, fairgoers were advised to seek shelter at 7:10 p.m., leading to temporary closures of rides, attractions, and some vendors.
**What to Expect Overnight and Early Tuesday**
There will be a break in the storms overnight, with more storms anticipated around 3 or 4 a.m. Tuesday. While these storms are expected to be less intense, there is a possibility of very heavy rain.
