Israel's War on Gaza Live: Israeli Siege Halts Water and Power in Jenin
1 Sep 2024
The United Nations has condemned Israel for causing "enormous destruction" in the Jenin refugee camp in the occupied West Bank. Israeli forces continue their siege, cutting off food, water, electricity, and internet access to Palestinian residents. Meanwhile, Palestinian health officials have called for a "real ceasefire" in the Gaza Strip to ensure the success of a polio vaccination campaign, as Israeli airstrikes have killed at least 61 people in the past 24 hours.
In addition, Israel's military recovered the bodies of six Israeli captives from a tunnel in Rafah, while relatives of those still held by Hamas are calling for mass protests against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government. The ongoing conflict has resulted in the deaths of at least 40,691 people and injured 94,060 in Gaza, while an estimated 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the Hamas-led attacks on October 7.
