**SEOUL, South Korea (AP)** — South Korean singer Taeil has exited K-pop band NCT following accusations of an unspecified sexual crime, his label announced Wednesday.

SM Entertainment, Taeil's agency, released a statement on X, confirming that the NCT member will leave the boy band due to "accusations in a criminal case related to a sexual crime." The label did not provide details about the nature of the accusations.

“We acknowledge the seriousness of the situation and have decided that Taeil cannot continue with team activities,” the statement read. “After discussions with Taeil, it has been decided that he will depart from the group.” The label also mentioned that Taeil is fully cooperating with the police investigation.

Taeil was a member of NCT, also known as Neo Culture Technology, a globally popular South Korean boy band that debuted in 2016. The group includes over two dozen members across various subunits, such as NCT 127, NCT Dream, and NCT Wish. Taeil was recently active with NCT 127. Known for their experimental music and diverse genres, the group has garnered international acclaim, with several releases making Billboard charts.

SM Entertainment's statement quickly attracted attention, amassing over 45.7 million views in under three hours.
