**New Delhi:**

Two Bangladeshi diplomats in India have been dismissed by the interim government of Bangladesh. Shaban Mahmud, who served as First Secretary (Press) at the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi, was instructed to resign before his contract expired. Ranjan Sen, holding a similar position at the Bangladeshi consulate in Kolkata, was also relieved of his duties.

The interim government, led by Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus, took power amidst a period of intense political turmoil, which saw mass protests and violence that ultimately led to the ousting of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

On August 5, 76-year-old Hasina fled Bangladesh to India by helicopter as protesters took control of Dhaka's streets, ending her 15-year rule, which had been marred by allegations of human rights abuses. The weeks leading up to her departure were marked by severe unrest, resulting in over 450 deaths.
