Former US Ambassador to Israel, Daniel Kurtzer, argues that the US exhibits a “weakness” in addressing the policies of Israel’s “extreme government.” He asserts that the expansion of illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank and the refusal to consider Palestinian self-determination signal a recurring issue in the Middle East.
In an interview with Steve Clemons, Kurtzer points out that the Gaza conflict has revealed shortcomings in US diplomacy, which has struggled to curb Israel’s actions in Gaza and address the underlying issues between Palestine and Israel. As a result, the conflict continues to escalate with no resolution in sight.
