According to the UN’s humanitarian agency, Israeli forces are employing “lethal war-like tactics” in the occupied West Bank.
The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported on Wednesday that Israeli attacks have resulted in the deaths of over two dozen people, including children, over the past week. The ongoing raids, primarily targeting the Tulkarem and Jenin refugee camps, represent Israel’s most significant assault on the occupied territory since the second Intifada in the early 2000s.
The raids have caused substantial violence, numerous arrests, and significant damage to infrastructure, with roads and buildings being destroyed by Israeli military bulldozers.
OCHA has mobilized various UN and other organizations to assess the damage and humanitarian needs. In Tulkarem, teams found that 120 people, including more than 40 children, were displaced due to the destruction of their homes. Additionally, in the Nur Shams refugee camp, 13,000 people faced water cut-offs due to damage to the water network, and sewage overflow was reported. The assessment also revealed that the population is suffering from trauma and requires psychosocial support.
