Apple's iPhone 16 series is set to launch on September 9. Anticipated features include a vertical camera layout, an Action Button, the A18 chipset, 8GB of RAM, and potential micro-lens technology. The standard models are expected to maintain their 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch OLED displays...

After months of speculation, Apple has officially confirmed that its flagship iPhone 16 series will be unveiled on September 9, a day earlier than previously rumored. In addition to the new iPhones, the tech giant is anticipated to introduce new smartwatches and AirPods. However, as is typical for Apple, no specific details about these devices have been confirmed, and it's likely the company will not acknowledge their presence ahead of the launch event.

As Apple’s major event approaches, let’s take a closer look at what rumors and leaks have revealed about the upcoming iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. Keep in mind that these details are not confirmed and may change before the official launch.

**iPhone 16 Design:**

Rumors suggest that Apple is set to make several design changes with the iPhone 16. Notably, the company is anticipated to adopt a vertical camera layout, reminiscent of the iPhone X or iPhone 12, moving away from the diagonal arrangement of previous models. This new design is expected to enhance the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus's ability to capture spatial video.

Apple is expected to replace the mute button on the standard iPhone 16 models with the Action Button, which debuted on the iPhone 15 Pro. Additionally, a new 'Capture' button may be introduced, allowing users to start video recording, zoom, or focus on subjects.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that the standard iPhone 16 will be available in five colors: black, green, pink, blue, and white. If accurate, this would mean the discontinuation of the blue and yellow color options from previous models.

**iPhone 16 Processor:**

Reports indicate that the iPhone 16 series will be powered by the A18 chipset across all models, supporting on-device AI tasks. However, the processors in the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus may differ in GPU performance compared to the Pro variants.

The iPhone 16 series is also expected to feature a RAM upgrade to 8GB, compared to the 6GB found in its predecessor.

**iPhone 16 Camera:**

According to Apple Insider, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will likely retain the camera setup from last year. This includes a 48MP primary camera with an f/1.6 aperture, 2x optical zoom, and an ultra-wide lens capable of 0.5x zoom. The ultra-wide lens may see a minor upgrade to an f/2.2 aperture, improving low-light performance compared to the f/2.4 aperture on the iPhone 15.
