**Sources:** 49ers and Brandon Aiyuk Agree to 4-Year, $120M Extension

**SANTA CLARA, Calif.** — The San Francisco 49ers and wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk have finalized a four-year, $120 million contract extension, solidifying their commitment to each other through the 2028 season. This agreement, which was on the table since August 12, marks the end of a high-stakes negotiation period that began over six months ago.

Aiyuk, who married "Total Divas" star Nikki Bella in 2022, now joins Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill as the fifth-highest-paid receivers in the NFL, with an average annual value of $30 million.

The 49ers will enter the 2024 NFL season with eight players earning an average annual salary of $15 million or more:

- Nick Bosa: $34M
- Brandon Aiyuk: $30M
- Deebo Samuel: $23.85M
- Trent Williams: $23.01M
- Javon Hargrave: $21M
- Fred Warner: $19.045M
- Christian McCaffrey: $19M
- George Kittle: $15M

The deal comes after a tense period of negotiations. On Wednesday, the 49ers publicly declared Aiyuk healthy and expected him to participate in practice, but he did not appear on the field, which raised concerns about potential team discipline. The finalized contract ensures Aiyuk can now focus on preparing for the September 9 opener against the New York Jets.

For nearly two years, the 49ers expressed their intention to re-sign Aiyuk, despite recent uncertainties when he requested a trade before training camp on July 23. The 49ers, receiving interest from teams such as the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns, and New England Patriots, eventually re-engaged in negotiations to resolve their differences.

Aiyuk’s extension means the 49ers retain their top wideout as they pursue their sixth Super Bowl title. With Aiyuk, quarterback Brock Purdy, and other key players, the team’s offensive core remains intact for another championship run.

In the 2023 season, Aiyuk had a standout year, leading the 49ers in receiving yards (1,342) and finishing among the NFL’s top performers in several categories. His return also means continuity for the 49ers’ offensive lineup, allowing him to team up with Deebo Samuel and Jauan Jennings while rookies Ricky Pearsall and Jacob Cowing develop.

The extension of Aiyuk, the second first-round pick (along with Nick Bosa) under Lynch and Shanahan to sign a second contract with the team, continues the 49ers’ trend of re-signing key players just before training camp or during the season, following similar deals with George Kittle (2020), Fred Warner (2021), Deebo Samuel (2022), and Nick Bosa (2023).
